CONSULTANCY TO DEVELOP SOCIAL MEDIA STRATEGY AND IMPLEMENT SOCIAL MEDIA CAMPAIGNS FOR SUN POOLED FUND.

BACKGROUND:

The Civil Society Scaling-Up Nutrition in Nigeria (CS-SUNN) is a non-governmental, non-profit making coalition, made up of organizations with a shared vision to transform Nigeria into a country where every citizen has food and is nutrition secured. CS-SUNN pursues this lofty goal by engaging and mobilizing Government and Non-state actors to advocate for relevant policy implementation, raise awareness, generate evidence, build capacity and stimulate communities to scale-up nutrition in Nigeria, with special focus on maternal and child nutrition. The organizational capacity of CS-SUNN to become a leading voice on nutrition advocacy in Nigeria led to the implementation of the SUN Movement Pooled Fund Project.

The SUN Movement Pooled Fund is a catalytic and last resort source of grants to support Multi-stakeholder platforms in the Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) movement Countries, in order to increase the effectiveness and impact of national efforts to end malnutrition in all its forms.

The SUN Movement Pooled Fund Concept was developed in 2017 with the aim to strengthen the capacity of non-governmental systems in SUN countries. The Civil Society Alliance in Nigeria (herein referred to as CSA) is one of the 17 beneficiaries of the 2018 SUN Movement Pooled Fund Grant. The overall objective of this grant is to strengthen participation by in-country non-state stakeholders and parliamentarians in national multi-stakeholder platforms, to implement scale-up nutrition plans.

For Nigeria, the Civil Society Scaling Up Nutrition in Nigeria (CS-SUNN) is implementing the Pooled Fund project in the six focal states (FCT, Kwara, Imo, Oyo, Gombe and Rivers).

To this effect, CS-SUNN requires the services of a Social Media Specialist to develop and execute social media campaigns through competitive and audience research with targeted virtual communities and networks users, aimed at improving nutrition budgets and policy implementation in SUN Pooled Fund project focal states.

 

Purpose of Assignment

The purpose of this assignment is to conduct social media campaigns aimed at increasing engagements and awareness that will contribute to improving nutrition budgets and policy implementation.

Specific Tasks

The specific tasks for the consultants are:

  1. Develop a social media strategy to increase visibility, membership and traffic across CS-SUNN’s social media platforms, particularly on the SUN Pooled Fund action plan to guide its implementation.
  2. Implementation of priority areas of the strategy relating to:
    1. Implementation of nutrition plans and policies, nutrition funding, and SUN Pooled fund activities.
    2. Increased followership, membership and user engagement on the social media platforms
    3. Features to enable interaction with major social media platforms such as Facebook and You-tube
  1. Initiate and develop relationships within CS-SUNN and with outside partners to produce digital products and content on SUN Pooled Fund priority areas and initiatives for social media activities.
  2. Define and monitor targets and benchmarks to measure the success of the social media campaigns.

 

Expected Outputs

By the end of the assignment the following outputs will be expected:

  • Social media strategy and implementation of the strategy contributing to improved implementation of nutrition plans and increased nutrition funding.
  • Increased visibility and traffic across CS-SUNN’s social media platform.
  • Periodic reporting and final report on all social media campaigns executed.

 

Type of Consultants Required

The consultant should be knowledgeable on the Nigerian health/Nutrition systems, with extensive experience on implementing and executing social media plans/campaigns. A degree in Social Media Management, Communications, journalism and other Social Science related disciplines is key.  At least three years proven experience in applying social media strategies. Candidates should provide evidence of social media work through links to the respective sites.
