CS-SUNN ENGAGES TRADITIONAL, RELIGIOUS LEADERS AND COMMUNITY HEADS ON OPTIMAL INFANT AND YOUNG CHILD FEEDING PRACTICES

CS-SUNN team recently visited the village head of Tudun Wada and Gama Communities in Kano State.  The visit was aimed at informing the community about the importance of adequate nutrition to mother and child as well as the need to promote Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) practices at the community level. The visit also bared the importance of the first 1000 days as a window of opportunity which should be harnessed to give infants in the community the best start in life.

Some village heads, Ibrahim Ali and Rabiu Mohamed Isiyaku and other community leaders unanimously agreed that there was need to sensitize the entire community members. They called for a town-hall meeting to that effect and pledged to provide support towards ensuring that community members embraced Optimal IYCF practices.

The meeting led by the CS-SUNN Kano state chapter had in attendance 14 participants. CS-SUNN will work closely with the community leaders to convene a town hall meeting to sensitize members of the community on adequate IYCF practices.
