Aisha M. Maidala
Aisha is a Nutritionist/Dietitian, Public Health Specialist and an Environmental Manager. She has worked with the Borno State Hospitals Management Board as a Nutritionist/Dietitian in various general hospitals across the state and was later co- opted into the federal civil service to kick start the then established Federal Neuro Psychiatric Hospital, Maiduguri, where she served until successful retirement in November 2020.
As a Professional and a humanitarian, she is involved into various Nutrition Intervention Programs, such as the Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF), Community Based Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) Psychosocial Support in Gender Based Violence and all other programs that involve women, children and the vulnerable in general.
In her Quest and Passion for nutrition based programs such as Community Based Management of Malnutrition (CMAM) & Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) she has carried out a research on some of local produce, (cereals and grains), including legumes, such as “Soya beans”, “Finger Millete” (a Millete variety of high and quality nutrition value), “Sorghum, “Sesame seeds” and “Melon seeds and used those food items to come up with an idea of making local “Ready to Use Therapeutic Food” (RUTF). This local Nutrition Product yielded positive results when it was administered it to infants with Severe and Moderate Acute Malnutrition, (SAM & MAM) and has continued to carry out nutrition sensitization activities in MMC, BAMA. DIKWA, KONDUGA, JERE Local government areas.
She has led the Borno state chapter of CS-SUNN on advocacies to UNICEF ACTION AGAINST HUNGER etc, government ministries of Health and Women Affairs, Finance, Budget & Planning, Agency for Humanitarians Affairs and State Primary Health Care Management Agency and is a member of the Borno State Committee on Food and Nutrition.
She runs a local National NGO as the Executive Director with thematic areas in Nutrition, Environmental Resilience & Management and provides Psychosocial Support in GBV.
She has a Master of Public Health MPH, Major in public Health Nutrition 2011. She is an advocate of Gender Based Violence, Environmental Health and Resilience Women and Youth Empowerment
