CS-SUNN Strengthens Corporate Governance Structures; Hosts 3-Day Leadership and Governance Capacity Building Workshop.

CS-SUNN has taken significant steps to bolster its corporate governance systems and structures, ensuring sustainability and continued impact. Acknowledging the complex challenges from regulatory issues, technological advancements, and stakeholder expectations, CS-SUNN hosted a transformative three-day Leadership and Governance Capacity Building workshop in Lagos state. This workshop targeted its Board of Trustees, Steering Committee, and Management Members to enhance their governance and leadership capabilities.

In line with CS-SUNN’s mission to mobilize non-state actors to advocate, generate evidence, build capacity, and stimulate communities for scaling up nutrition in Nigeria, the workshop was meticulously designed to address the critical aspects of governance—legal obligations, financial oversight, risk management, and strategic leadership- key to the attainment of this mission.

The training aims to establish a robust governance framework that will ensure transparency, accountability, and strategic direction, fostering trust among CS-SUNN internal and external stakeholders and maximizing the impact of initiatives.

By equipping board members and leaders with knowledge and skills through this training, CS-SUNN will enhance its governance effectiveness, strengthen resource mobilization, navigate partnerships, and drive sustainable change in addressing malnutrition within her 28 plus state chapters, Nigeria at a large and even beyond.

By the end of the training participants will:

➢ Understand the roles and responsibilities of board members in governance, oversight, and strategic direction-setting.

➢ Develop effective board leadership and communication skills to foster collaboration, facilitate productive meetings, and ensure transparent decision-making processes.

➢ Gain knowledge and tools for strategic planning and oversight, enabling them to set Alliance priorities and monitor progress toward strategic goals.

➢ Enhance their financial management capabilities, including financial reporting, budgeting, resource allocation, and resource mobilization strategies.

➢ Learn to identify, assess, and mitigate risks, and develop crisis for preparedness plans to ensure alliance’s resilience.

➢ Acquire advocacy and communication strategies to effectively engage stakeholders, build coalitions, and influence policy decisions in support of alliance’s mission.

➢ Address unique governance challenges within the Nigerian context, exploring strategies to overcome barriers and build resilience.

By investing in the leadership and governance capacity of it’s leadership , CS-SUNN has not only fortified its internal structures but also re-positioned itself as a robust entity capable of leading impactful initiatives in the fight against malnutrition in Nigeria and beyond .
