Dr. Olugbemi Motilewa

Dr. Olugbemi Motilewa is an accomplished Public Health Physician, currently serving as the Akwa-Ibom State Coordinator for the Civil Society-Scaling Up Nutrition in Nigeria (CS-SUNN). With over 16 years of experience in healthcare and public health, Dr. Motilewa plays a key role in advancing nutrition advocacy and program implementation in Akwa-Ibom. His background as a physician, researcher, and health development expert enables him to approach the state’s nutrition challenges with a comprehensive, evidence-based perspective.

Dr. Motilewa is also a Lecturer at the University of Uyo, where he teaches Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Demography at both undergraduate and master’s levels. His passion for education extends to supervising medical students’ and graduate-level projects, ensuring they receive practical and research-driven training. His academic work is complemented by his role as a Consultant Public Health Physician at the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital, where he mentors public health residents and supervises their dissertations, contributing to the development of the next generation of public health professionals.

Throughout his career, Dr. Motilewa has been recognized for his dedication to public health. He is a Fellow of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria in Public Health and has received prestigious honors such as the James Hakeem Leadership Development Fellowship (2022) from AfreHealth and the Early Career Award (2014) from the Association of Commonwealth Universities. These accolades reflect his leadership in promoting inter-professional education and collaborative practices among healthcare workers, further advancing the health sector in Nigeria.

In his role at CS-SUNN, Dr. Motilewa has been instrumental in driving strategic partnerships with local and international stakeholders to combat malnutrition and improve nutritional outcomes for vulnerable populations in Akwa-Ibom.
