CS-SUNN in collaboration with UNICEF supported the Kano State Committee on Food and Nutrition in December 2019 to host a one-day Policy Dialogue aimed at improved implementation of the state’s specific nutrition policies and plans. Key discussions during the dialogue centered around improving the nutritional status of Kano residents,
improving visibility of nutrition issues by the media, integration of Food and Nutrition
policy into the state development plan and uptake of dietary diversification in the state.
The Permanent Secretary, Kano State Ministry of Budget and Planning, Hassan
Balarabe Karaye who chaired the dialogue said the State Government is doing all within
its powers to provide necessary support in enlightening the public, especially pregnant
women, from the ante-natal stage on the importance of adequate nutrition.
CS-SUNN and other partners expects the approval of the State Policy on Food and Nutrition by the State Executive Council, its launch and dissemination in the first quarter
of 2020 and is expectant that the implantation of the policy will improve the nutritional
status of Kano residents especially women and children.
