About the Strategy
A Scalable National Model for Youth-Led Nutrition Action
The Civil Society-Scaling Up Nutrition in Nigeria (CS-SUNN) has developed and tested a high-impact youth engagement model designed for nationwide scale across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
Built through successful implementation across diverse communities, the strategy positions young people as catalysts for:
- Nutrition advocacy
- Community transformation
- Public accountability
- Behavior change
- Inclusive policy engagement
The model intentionally prioritizes:
- Adolescents
- Young women
- Persons Living With Disabilities (PLWDs)
- Underserved and marginalized groups
This ensures that no young Nigerian is left behind in the fight against malnutrition.
Why this Matters
Nigeria’s Nutrition Future Depends on Youth Leadership
Young people represent one of Nigeria’s greatest assets for sustainable development. Yet millions of communities continue to face:
- Poor nutrition awareness
- Limited access to services
- Weak community participation
- Inadequate policy attention
- Social and economic inequalities
CS-SUNN’s youth engagement strategy creates a pathway for young Nigerians to become:
- Community mobilizers
- Digital advocates
- Accountability champions
- Policy influencers
- Agents of lasting behavior change
By empowering youth voices, communities become stronger, more informed, and more connected to nutrition solutions.
