Professor Ngozi Nnam
She is a Professor of community and Public Health Nutrition affiliated with the Department of Home Science, Nutrition and Dietetics, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Nigeria. She is the current President of the Nutrition Society of Nigeria. Professor Ngozi Nnam is a graduate of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Food and Home Science, a Postgraduate Diploma in Education, and a Masters Degree in Education (Guidance and Counselling). She also has a second Masters’s Degree and a PhD. Degree in Human Nutrition.
Professor Ngozi Nnam was the winner of the 1994 Vice-Chancellor’s Faculty Postgraduate Prize for the best-graduating student in the Faculty of Agriculture. She lectured and served as Head of the Department of Home Economics, Federal College of Education, Eha-Amufu from 1987-1996 before joining the services of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where she rose to the rank of Professor. She has served as a visiting Professor to Universities within and outside Nigeria. Professor Ngozi Nnam consults for many agencies and organizations and serves as an external assessor for staff and an external examiner for students within and outside Nigeria. She reviews and serves on the editorial boards of many national and international journals.
She has travelled across continents to present papers at many International Science Conferences and Workshops. Professor Ngozi Nnam has over 50 publications to her credit in reputable peer-reviewed national and international journals. Her research interest is in the Nutrition of women and children, addressing malnutrition through the use of locally available food crops, improving nutritional qualities of plant foods to increase utilization and production, food product development especially complementary foods and their evaluation, documentation, chemical and biological evaluation of locally available foods.
Professor Ngozi Nnam serves in many local, national and international committees for the promotion of Nutritional Sciences and Education. She serves on the accreditation team for the National University Commission (NUC) and the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE). She is a member of the Nutrition Society UK, Oxford Round Table, Organisation for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSDW), African Nutrition Society, Nutrition Society of Nigeria and a Fellow Nutrition Society of Nigeria (FNSN). Professor Ngozi Nnam is happily married and blessed with children.
